GLIDE CUPPING & GUA SHA THERAPIES

Silicone cups are suctioned to the skin and glided along the skin. Gua sha (scraping) tools are used as well as fixed cups that might be suctioned onto skin for a short 2-10 minute period.

This form of alternative therapy designed to relieve pain by improving blood flow in the affected area. It's been linked with relieving muscular pains and providing more flexible muscles. This is because cupping acts as an inverted massage: rather than applying pressure, the skin is pulled away with similar effects.

This can also be seen in the smooth sheet of connective tissue (fascia) that covers the muscles. Connective tissue can become stiff, restricting muscle and joint movements. Cupping may relieve stiff fascia, making it more elastic and pliable, increasing mobility.

Cup "kisses" or circular discoloration is commonly left on skin for a few days or a week, ONLY WHEN fixed cups are used. You will not get cup kisses from gliding cups.

Gua sha (also commonly called scraping) is done by using a smooth edged tool and repeated pressure over the skin. It causes dermal friction increasing circulation, promoting healing and lymphatic drainage

It releases unhealthy bodily matter from blood stasis within sore, tired, stiff or injured muscle areas to stimulate new oxygenated blood flow to the areas, thus promoting metabolic cell repair, regeneration, healing and recovery.

Most commonly used to relieve muscle, joint pain and inflammation. It can also speed us muscle recovery for weightlifters.

Suggested treatment plan: 2-3 times a week for a month, 1 time a week the following month, 1 time a month for following months. The first month would be working out a problematic area, the second month is working on problem area and areas that have been compensating, the following months would be for future injury prevention/reoccurrence.
